Hoof Diseases: A Major Threat to Dairy Profitability

Hoof diseases rank among the three most costly health issues in dairy farming, alongside metabolic disorders and mastitis. Digital dermatitis (also known as hairy heel warts) is one of the most prevalent hoof diseases, affecting 75% to 100% of dairy herds in Europe and North America. It is a highly contagious bacterial infection that causes painful lesions on the hoof skin, leading to lameness, reduced milk production, and decreased fertility.

The economic impact is severe. A single case of clinical digital dermatitis can cause losses ranging from RMB 462 to 1,720, with annual economic losses exceeding RMB 3,000 when clinical symptoms are present. Each case of lameness can directly cause an economic loss of approximately RMB 2,500 to 2,600. In some large-scale dairy farms, hoof disease incidence has been reported to exceed 30%. Across a herd, lameness can reduce 305-day milk yield by 350 kg per affected cow. The U.S. dairy industry alone estimates digital dermatitis costs $1.1 billion annually at a moderate prevalence of 25%.

Effective hoof care is therefore not optional — it is essential for protecting herd health and farm profitability.

Product Overview

Shenlan Hoof Bath Solution (Shenlan Tibang) is a blue liquid product specially developed for dairy cow hoof care. It is mainly used for hoof bathing and hoof spraying to maintain hoof health, harden the hoof horn, and improve the overall health of the limbs and hooves. With a stable formula and high dilution ratio, it offers an effective and cost-efficient solution for modern dairy farms.

Key Benefits

1.Comprehensive hoof care: helps fix and protect hooves, and increases hoof horn hardness.

2.Stable performance and easy solubility in water; not easily affected by environmental factors.

3.Improves limb and hoof health, supporting better production performance in dairy cows.

4.High dilution ratio and low use cost.

5.Mild and non-irritating; contains no antibiotics and is safe for animals, workers, and the environment.

6.Chelated copper and zinc can penetrate the hoof cuticle and skin, improve nutrient metabolism, and enhance antibacterial effects even in the presence of manure and urine.

7.Herbal extracts help improve microcirculation, reduce inflammation, relieve pain, remove necrotic tissue, and promote tissue regeneration.

8.Avoids the toxicity and heavy metal pollution problems associated with copper sulfate, and avoids the strong irritation and skin-burning risks of glutaraldehyde.

Main Ingredients

Copper glycine, Zinc glycine, Lactic acid, Lycopus lucidus extract, Alisma orientale extract, and Atractylodes rhizome extract.
